Jarrod Hammes

Jarrod Hammes, President

Jarrod is the Sr. Product Manager at ecoATM, a division of Outerwall (Redbox / Coinstar). Prior to his current role, he was VP of Marketing for IP Video Networks, a San Diego company that provides software and hardware to the IPTV/Cable and Broadcast industry of Europe, Asia and the U.S. He spent 13 years in that industry, helping public and private companies develop technology to deliver video content to wider markets with greater quality. While a Rady School student, he provided business case analysis for Motorola during a summer internship. Jarrod earned an MBA from the Rady School in 2008.

Ken Harris

Ken Harris, Past-President

Ken Harris has been working in the IT industry for over 20 years and is the CEO of We Do IT All, LLC, an IT consulting firm and Radycal, LLC, a management consulting firm. He and his wife started San Diego Global Vision Academies, a public charter elementary and middle school, and they consult on charter development. Ken previously worked at Qualcomm and served as an IT Director for a school district. Ken earned a B.A. in Psychology/Philosophy from Northwestern University and an MBA from the Rady School of Management in 2008. He is the President of the Rady Alumni Association Board and is a member of the Deans Advisory Council for the Rady School of Management. Ken lives in San Diego with his wife and four children.

Amanda Esquivel

Amanda Esquivel, Marketing/Communications

Amanda Esquivel is a Managing Consultant at Global Defense, Inc., where she works with a wide array of stakeholders to integrate complex information systems. She has a passion for strategically solving business problems and discovering efficiencies by deriving insights from analytical information. Amanda is a member of the Board of Advisors of Interra Energy, LLC, a local development-stage company. She has 12 years of broad functional experience that includes Strategy Formulation & Analytical Decision Making, Finance, Marketing, Operations, Project Management, Business Process Engineering, and Consulting. Amanda earned a B.S. in Global Business Management from CSU San Marcos and an MBA from Rady School of Management in 2011.

Cindy Atwell

Cindy Atwell

Cindy Atwell is a business development professional with 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and over 5 years in a business development role. Cindy is currently a senior manager of business development and strategy at Abbott Laboratories, where she identifies and evaluates immunology therapeutics for licensing and M&A. Prior to Abbott, Cindy worked at Amylin Pharmaceuticals in business development and commercial roles. Before attending the inaugural Full-Time 2007MBA program at the Rady School, Cindy conducted scientific research at two San Diego start-up biotechnology companies. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from the Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from the Rady School of Management.

Simon Bailey

Simon Bailey

Simon Bailey is Senior Director, Oncology Chemistry, Pfizer R&D where he leads a team of 35 scientists engaged in the discovery of novel therapies to treat cancer. His role combines scientific, managerial and operational responsibilities and he has served on numerous local and global leadership teams. Simon began his career at Pfizer in Sandwich, UK before transferring to La Jolla in 2002. He earned an MBA from the Rady School in 2011 and holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Manchester, UK.

James Homrig

Jamie Homrig

Jamie Homrig is currently working to start his own business in the consumer products industry. He recently served as Director of Sales for Julian Hard Cider where he worked closely with the executive team to develop and implement sales strategies, manage distributors and expand sales territories. Previously, Jamie spent nearly a decade working in the biotech industry as a Research Scientist. In that role, he worked as a member of a global team to develop medical devices for the physician’s office and over-the-counter markets. Jamie holds a B.S. in Biochemistry and Cell Biology and earned an MBA from the Rady School of Management in 2011.

Mahesh Makhijani

Mahesh Makhijani

Mahesh Makhijani serves as senior director of Qualcomm Incorporated and has over 18 years of engineering and business development experience both in the US and in Europe. He currently leads the technical marketing group for the American continent. As part of this role he helps initiate and promote the technologies being developed as part of Qualcomm Research. Mahesh drives key Qualcomm technologies with the operator and vendor community leading to increased silicon market share for Qualcomm. Prior to joining Qualcomm, Mahesh worked in the wireless arena for Ericsson in various lead roles for over 12 years in the systems and software groups for both handsets and base-stations. He received his MS in electrical engineering in 1996 from National Technological University and earned an MBA from the Rady School of Management in 2011. Mahesh has authored twelve patents and numerous papers in IEEE and other professional organizations.

Kim Soerensen

Kim Soerensen

Kim Soerensen is a Business Analyst at Cogniance, a Silicon Valley-based software consultancy that specializes in outsourced software development for technology startups and corporate innovation labs. In this role, Kim is working on strategic and operational initiatives to ensure growth on a global scale. Throughout his career he has been involved with the technology industry in various segments, companies, and positions, primarily working with business and financial analysis as well as corporate and business development. Kim earned a B.S. in International Business from Copenhagen Business School and an MBA from Rady School of Management in 2011.

Dominique Verhelle

Dominique Verhelle

Dominique Verhelle is a Director at Pfizer in the Oncology Research Unit. She leads the effort in Epigenetic research applied to cancer therapies. She manages a team of scientists involved in early drug discovery programs. Dominique has 18 years of experience in research focusing on diabetes, obesity and oncology and 9 years of industry experience in drug discovery. Before joining Pfizer in 2012, she was Group Leader in Celgene for 9 years and led several pre-IND programs. Dominique earned an MBA from The Rady School of Management in 2009 and holds a PhD in Life Sciences from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, France.

James Wheeler

James Wheeler

James Wheeler is currently Chief Operating Officer at Modern Analytics, a technology company specializing in predictive analytics for large enterprise. As a business generalist with a keen interest in rapidly growing companies, his role combines corporate development, financial and operational responsibilities. James is an alumnus of the U.S. Navy’s Submarine Service. He earned a B.A. in economics from University of California, San Diego and an MBA from the Rady School of Management in 2009.
